You Create the Next Great Story…
We’ll provide the Tools to Forge its Reality.
Welcome to Scribe’s Forge … Tracy and Laura Hickman’s Writing Workshops and Seminars. We have been forging fantasy and other stories and publishing them for nearly thirty years. We’ve been on the New York Times Best Seller list multiple times, had our books translated and sold in languages around the world and enjoyed the fellowship of fans from Australia to Italy.
Now … it is your turn.
Tracy and Laura Hickman invite you to learn from them the tools, craft and discipline that will take your dreams and put them on the written page. Our objective in not just to get your published … but to get your stories READ and to have your readers wanting your next book.
Our classes emphasis:
- Forging a Story Worth Reading: We teach foundational story/plot structure, character relationship foundations, world-building and story/character fine tuning. We show you how to look under the hood of all aspects of your story and give it a tune-up.
- Forging a Book Worth Buying: We also teach you the business of writing — especially in the New Media Age. We will not only show you how to get your book published, but how you can develop a readership that will not only purchase your first book … the the books you write from now on.

Sounds like a winner Tracy and Laura!
I’d stumbled on an interview with Tracy on a Mur Lafferty Podcast from August 2010. It was a friendly exchange that allowed this listener and aspiring writer to know that there’s roadsigns, friends along the way and this website is maybe just what I’ve been looking for. I’m an American ex-pat living in Australia, been told by too many friends, too many times to apply fingers to keyboard and see what happens. And there seems a kindness from Tracy and Laura that welcomes the lonely writer and lets them know that they’re not alone and here’s the playbook. Thanks for this website, for the offering of the seminar. I’ve got a birthday coming up, might take you up on this excellent program.
Lew … we want to help. It’s our misson to pass on everything we have learned to you and writer like you. We hope you’ll be with us soon … to not just get you published but to get your words READ … to help you find your audience. Thank you for your generous words!
This looks very exciting. I’ve just finished my first draft of my novel and I’m looking forward to your next seminar so I can see how I measure up and where to make changes!
Thanks!!
Tom
This looks awesome.
About six years ago I had a creative writing teacher that worked as an editor professionally tell me that my work was good enough to be published. Like most people I didn’t do anything about it until a few months ago. I had an idea and started diving into it only to realize writing a book was much more work than I anticipated.
Just looking at all of the information online it gets real confusing on how to go about writing a book let alone getting published. This looks like just the thing I’ve been looking for.
